Add your fields
Drop a pin on each field your club uses. Name it, set the monitoring radius (8–12 miles), and choose a threshold preset — Balanced, Conservative, or Lenient. Takes about two minutes per field.
Fields are shared across your whole club. Any coach or admin can add a session to any field.
Schedule sessions
Add game and practice windows — one-off or recurring. Assign the coaches and staff who should receive alerts for each session. The system tracks each window independently.
You can also schedule from the mobile app. Recurring sessions copy forward each week.
Morning go / no-go
Every morning before your configured cutoff time (default 6:30am), Sideline Alert emails and texts every coach with an active session that day. One word: PLAY, CAUTION, or NO-GO — and the reason.
The verdict is based on the full forecast window, not just the current hour. CAUTION means watch for updates.
Live lightning watch
During an active session, monitoring switches to real-time strike detection. The second a strike is detected within your radius, every recipient on that field gets a HOLD alert instantly.
The alert arrives within 60 seconds of detection. It fires via SMS, push, and email simultaneously.
Automatic all-clear
A 30-minute quiet-time clock starts from the last detected strike. If another strike lands within the radius, the clock resets. When the full 30 minutes pass with no strikes, every recipient gets the all-clear.
The 30-minute rule follows the standard recommended by the National Weather Service and NATA.
To keep costs down and accuracy up, monitoring intensity scales with proximity to your session. Idle fields use infrequent baseline checks. As a session approaches, polling tightens to 5-minute intervals. During active play with a storm threat, it goes real-time.
